The 5th Dubai Police Esports Tournament returns August 14–17 with 1,500 players competing in CS2, VALORANT, Dota 2, and more, plus a 200,000 AED prize pool, hackathon, and game jam.

The Dubai Police have officially announced the fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament, set to take place from August 14th to 17th at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. This multi-title competition is one of the most anticipated gaming events in the region, attracting over 1,500 players from diverse nationalities to compete across six major esports titles.

This year’s tournament will feature Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Dota 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, EA Sports FC 25, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The event is open to players aged 10 to 35 and will boast a prize pool of 200,000 AED (~£40,465), distributed among the titles.

Beyond being a high-stakes gaming competition, the tournament also carries an educational mission. Aligned with the Dubai Police’s initiative to promote digital literacy, the event aims to raise awareness about the risks of cybercrime, highlight the importance of online safety, and encourage balanced gaming practices among the youth. The Dubai Sports Council, a key partner in the event, sees it as part of a broader strategy to create sports and technology-related opportunities that engage young residents of the city.

In addition to the esports matches, the tournament will host a Hackathon and a Game Jam, inviting creative minds to collaborate on innovative projects. These side events are designed to bridge the gap between competitive gaming and the wider technology industry, fostering skills in coding, design, and creative problem-solving.

The Dubai Police Esports Tournament comes at a time when the Middle East’s esports industry is rapidly expanding. Dubai has been investing heavily in becoming a regional hub for gaming and esports. In the past year alone, the city has hosted major events such as the Dubai Esports and Games Festival, which combined competitive play with educational programs, and is preparing to host the prestigious Global Esports Games later this year.

This regional growth is mirrored in neighboring Saudi Arabia, where the Saudi Esports Federation has launched significant projects, including the opening of the SEF Arena and hosting parts of the Esports World Cup. The competition between Gulf nations to become the leading esports destination in the Middle East has fueled massive investments in infrastructure, events, and talent development.

For the Dubai Police, however, the esports tournament is about more than just competition—it’s about community engagement, youth empowerment, and technology education. By bringing together passionate gamers, creative innovators, and industry leaders, the event aims to strengthen Dubai’s position not only as an esports hotspot but also as a model city for integrating gaming into broader cultural and educational initiatives.

As the countdown begins, the Dubai Police Esports Tournament promises four days of thrilling matches, groundbreaking innovations, and a celebration of gaming culture that resonates far beyond the screens.
