G2 Esports defeats Sentinels 3-1 in the VCT Americas Stage 1 Grand Final, earning a direct Playoffs seed at Masters Toronto and solidifying their dominance in the 2025 Valorant season.

G2 Esports has claimed the VCT Americas Stage 1 championship title after a commanding 3-1 victory over Sentinels in the Grand Final on May 4, 2025. With this win, G2 not only secures 10 VCT Points but also a direct Playoffs seed at Masters Toronto, the next international event in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) calendar, taking place June 7–22.

The Stage 1 event, which ran from March 21 to May 4, featured 12 top teams from the Americas region. G2 Esports entered the tournament as a clear contender and proved their mettle with a flawless 5-0 run through the Omega Group during the group stage. Their momentum was briefly halted in the Upper Bracket Semifinal, where Sentinels handed them their only loss of the event in a tight 2-1 series.

Undeterred, G2 launched a fierce lower bracket campaign, eliminating Evil Geniuses (2-1) and MIBR (3-1) to secure their Grand Final rematch against Sentinels. G2’s performance against MIBR was particularly impressive, with players trent and leaf delivering standout performances: leaf racking up 87 kills, while trent’s tactical precision on Tejo made him the highest-rated player throughout the playoffs.

In the Grand Final, G2 showcased both tactical adaptation and mental resilience, winning Haven (13-9) and Split (13-9) to build a 2-0 series lead. Sentinels fought back on Pearl (13-10), but G2 sealed the championship on Ascent (13-10). Trent “trent” Cairns led the series with 73 kills and a +22 KDA, earning him Match MVP honors.

Following the win, trent took to social media to celebrate:
“Ggs 3-1 STAGE 1 CHAMPIONS and back-to-back domestic champions. So proud of this team and all the hard work that we’ve put in for this split. Shout out to my team for everything we’ve been through.”

This victory marks G2’s second domestic title in 2025 after winning the VCT Americas Kickoff in February, also against Sentinels. They currently lead the Americas regional standings with 16 points, followed by Sentinels (9) and MIBR (7). Only the top two teams per region will receive automatic qualification to VALORANT Champions in Paris later this year.

Masters Toronto will see G2, Sentinels, and MIBR represent the Americas among 12 global contenders. For MIBR, this marks a historic first qualification to a Masters-level tournament, earned after a strong third-place Stage 1 finish.

The Grand Final drew significant viewership, peaking at over 300,000 viewers; a strong showing despite being lower than previous events like the Kickoff or Stage 1 in 2024.

As G2 sets its sights on international glory in Toronto, fans eagerly await the next chapter in this heated G2 vs. Sentinels rivalry.
