GosuGamers has launched a new esports grant program through its GosuBattles platform to support grassroots tournaments in India and the Philippines. The initiative offers up to $400 in funding, tools, and visibility to local organisers to boost competitive gaming in the region.

GosuGamers, a well-known global esports media publication, has officially launched a new grant initiative through its tournament platform, GosuBattles, aimed at boosting grassroots esports scenes in India and the Philippines. This program is designed to empower local tournament organisers, ranging from student-led clubs to established esports organisations, by offering financial support, promotional assistance, and infrastructure guidance.

The GosuBattles Grant Programme is a strategic move to nurture competitive gaming at the community level, fostering a healthy ecosystem for aspiring players, organisers, and fans. According to Bryan Huang, Director of Growth and Strategy at GosuGamers, “The launch of the GosuBattles Grant Programme reflects our commitment to building grassroots esports from the ground up. This initiative gives local organisers the funding, tools, and visibility to bring their tournaments to life and grow lasting communities around them.”

Grant applicants can receive up to $400 (~£296), with the amount determined by the size and scope of their planned event. Factors like the number of participants and total sign-ups influence the final funding decision. This flexible, tiered system allows both small and large-scale tournaments to benefit from the program. Organisers can use the grant to fund prize pools, enhance technical setups, promote their event, and generate engaging content.

To qualify, organisers must host their event through the GosuBattles platform and submit their grant applications at least two months before the tournament start date. The platform simplifies tournament management by offering tools for registration, bracket creation, match reporting, and post-event content, streamlining the process for organisers and players alike.

Although currently restricted to India and the Philippines, GosuGamers has hinted at the potential for future expansion to other regions, depending on the program’s impact and success. This initial regional focus underscores the platform’s goal to strengthen underserved esports communities where access to funding and resources has been limited.

The initiative supports tournaments for a wide variety of games, including popular MOBAs like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, and Dota 2, as well as FPS titles like Counter-Strike 2 and Overwatch 2. Interestingly, the grant also extends eligibility to unconventional competitive titles, including online chess, highlighting the inclusive nature of the program.

With esports continuing to grow across Asia, GosuGamers’ move signals a meaningful investment in the future of the scene. By lowering the barriers for grassroots competition, the GosuBattles Grant Programme could play a key role in discovering new talent, building local esports communities, and promoting sustainable development across two of the region’s most passionate gaming markets.
