The Esports World Cup Foundation has launched “Music of EWC,” a global music initiative featuring 2WEI and Hollywood Scoring, and an open competition with Audiotool to shape the sound of the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh.
The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has unveiled Music of EWC, an ambitious new initiative aiming to create a distinct musical identity for the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC), the world’s largest esports and gaming festival. Scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 7 to August 24, the tournament is making headlines not only for its record-breaking $70 million prize pool but also for its innovative fusion of music and esports.
Music of EWC was officially launched on April 27, 2025, with the recording of a four-track music suite at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. The initial compositions were created by renowned music groups 2WEI and Hollywood Scoring, both well-known for their work on major gaming and cinematic projects. 2WEI has contributed to titles like League of Legends and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, while Hollywood Scoring has worked on projects like Star Wars, Riot Games’ Arcane, and Disney Parks soundtracks. Together, they produced two tracks each, forming the foundation of the EWC 2025 soundtrack.

In addition to these professionally produced tracks, EWCF is inviting the global music community to participate in shaping the EWC’s sound through an open competition hosted on Audiotool, a cloud-based music creation platform. Musicians and producers from around the world can submit their original tracks by June 8, 2025. The top two submissions, chosen by a panel of industry judges, will be added to the official EWC music suite and featured across tournament broadcasts, on-site events, and digital content during the summer event.
Winners of the competition will receive 25 limited-edition vinyls of their submitted track and a one-year LANDR Studio subscription, potentially a career-launching opportunity in the gaming and entertainment industries. Submissions must be original and licensed under Creative Commons.
Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, emphasized the cultural significance of the initiative, stating, “Music of EWC is a natural extension of our mission to connect people and elevate talent in all forms. Music and esports both bring people together; they let us feel the same rhythm, the same energy, wherever we are.”

However, the initiative has not been without controversy. The EWC is funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and operated by the Savvy Games Group-owned ESL FACEIT Group. Critics have raised concerns about “sportswashing,” pointing to the Saudi government’s human rights record and efforts to rebrand through entertainment and global events.
Despite the criticism, Music of EWC represents a bold step in blending the universality of music with the global reach of esports, offering a new layer of creativity and community engagement in competitive gaming’s biggest festival.
