The Esports World Cup 2025 welcomes back Teamfight Tactics from August 11-15, featuring 16 teams, a $500K prize pool, and a Club Points system. Here’s everything you need to know.
Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is officially returning to the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC) following a thrilling 2024 debut, which saw Wolves Esports defy expectations and secure a surprising championship win. Now, with a massive $500,000 (~£372,600) prize pool on the line, TFT fans can expect another high-stakes competition from August 11th to 15th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Esports World Cup, backed by the Saudi Arabian government and organized by the EWC Foundation, is a multi-title esports festival featuring titles such as League of Legends, VALORANT, and now TFT as part of a multi-year partnership with Riot Games. Spanning from July 8th to August 24th, the 2025 edition of the event boasts a record-breaking $70 million (~£54.3 million) total prize pool across all competitions.
Format and Schedule

The TFT tournament will follow a two-phase format: Group Stage and Playoffs. Sixteen qualified teams will be divided into four groups of four in a double-elimination bracket format. Matches in this stage will be best-of-three (BO3) series. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs, which feature a single-elimination bracket.
The Group Stage is scheduled for August 11th to 13th, followed by the Playoffs—including the Quarterfinals on August 14th, and both the Semifinals and Grand Final on August 15th. The Grand Final will be played in a best-of-five (BO5) format, raising the stakes for the ultimate showdown.
Prize Pool and Club Points
Beyond the substantial cash rewards, teams will also earn Club Points, which contribute to their organizations’ overall rankings in the EWC 2025 Club Championship.
Placement | Prize Money | Club Points |
1st Place | $200,000 | 1,000 |
2nd Place | $100,000 | 600 |
3rd-4th Place | $45,000 | 275 |
5th-8th Place | $15,000 | 60 |

Qualified Teams and Rising Stars

Thus far, several teams have already secured their spots through the Asian Champions League (ACL) 2025:
- Flash Wolves (ACL APAC Qualifier #1)
- T1 (ACL APAC Qualifier #2)
- Virtus.pro (ACL APAC Qualifier #3)
- Team Falcons (ACL CN Qualifier #1)
- Weibo Gaming (ACL CN Qualifier #2)
- Twisted Minds (ACL CN Qualifier #3)
Wolves Esports, the reigning champions, will also return to defend their title. However, they enter this year’s tournament as underdogs once again, following a year of lackluster performances and a failure to qualify through the ACL. Their invitation likely stems from their 2024 title defense status.
The remaining seven spots will be determined through the American and EMEA Closed Qualifiers (May 2nd–June 1st) and the Global Qualifier (June 6th–8th), promising even more fierce competition ahead of the main event.
How to Watch
All matches will likely be streamed live on EWC’s official Twitch and YouTube channels, and fans attending in person can secure their tickets through the event’s official website.
With an exciting mix of returning champions, rising powerhouses, and a revamped competitive format, the Teamfight Tactics tournament at EWC 2025 is poised to be a key highlight in this summer’s esports calendar.
